Ayurvedic Treatment Of Constipation

Constipation can upset your mood or disturb you mentally, causing physical discomfort, heaviness in the stomach and sometimes headaches and body aches.

Constipation can bother you in many ways. When you have constipation in your stomach, it can spoil your mood, cause restlessness, heaviness, and tightness in the stomach, abdominal pain, sometimes headache, sometimes it can cause body pain. If you are also very much troubled by constipation and when you are looking for home remedies, then here we are telling you about some ayurvedic remedies for constipation prescribed by the ayurvedic doctor.

Ayurvedic expert Dr. Diksha Bhavsar says that constipation can ruin everything, be it your interview with your boss or your meeting with your beloved. According to Ayurveda, constipation is the root cause of most diseases. By now we all know that our gut produces 70-85% of the hormones that keep our gut healthy.

Constipation mainly occurs due to an imbalance (agitation) of Vata dosha (especially Apana Vayu). There can be many reasons for this:

  • Do not eat mindfully.
  • Excessive consumption of dry, cold, spicy, fried, and fast food.
  • Not drinking enough water.
  • Good low fiber.
  • Bad metabolism.
  • disturbed sleep patterns.
  • Eating late at night
  • sedentary lifestyle, etc.

Dr Diksha Bhavsar says, ‘One of the main reasons behind constipation which I see in 40% of my patients is not giving enough time. Yes, you heard it right, just spending enough time in the toilet can cure constipation. If you are going to take newspapers, and mobiles into the washroom, then stop doing this. Start spending at least 15-20 minutes in the toilet at the same time every day without any gadgets/newspapers.

Along with this, start getting up, sleeping, and eating at the same time every day. This will help you clean your bowels first thing in the morning.

If these methods do not work, then try these remedies

  • Take one spoon of cow’s ghee daily with warm water in the morning or with warm cow’s milk at bedtime.
  • Start drinking warm water throughout the day.
  • Have a salad with lunch (if you have good digestion).
  • Start exercising (walking/jogging/cycling/gym-any type of activity) for 40 minutes daily.
