3. Clean the Sink

First remove dust and old soap and toothpaste residue with the cleaning agent of your choice. If you don’t want to use chemical cleaners here either, you can make a DIY bathroom cleaner using household products . For this you need:

  • 3-5 tablespoons of citric acid (powder) or a cup of household vinegar
  • 1 liter of distilled or boiled water
  • a drop of dish soap

Vinegar and citric acid are also very effective against annoying limescale residue on the fittings.

Then you have to clean the soap dish and, if necessary, fill up the soap dispenser. To make your sink and fittings shine, you can polish the cleaned surfaces with a microfiber cloth.

The alkaline baking soda reacts with the acidity of the vinegar and the deposits begin to dissolve. However, wait about 15 minutes before rinsing with hot water.

Tip:  To prevent the drain from becoming clogged in the first place, it is best to use a small sieve. Remove the hair that is stuck in the strainer after each shower or bath.

The basic rule when cleaning the bathtub and shower is: If you clean regularly, you will save yourself a lot of trouble caused by limescale and mold. It’s best to proceed in the same way as when cleaning the sink. Coarse stains and dirt are removed with the (DIY) bathroom cleaner, limescale stains with citric acid or vinegar. Everything should then be wiped dry thoroughly.

Tip:  Glass walls in the shower and tiles should be wiped off after showering or bathing to prevent water stains.
